There are a lot of things that can compromise Food safety standards in a food establishment. All of these items can be controlled with careful monitoring.

Personal hygiene is the thing that is going to first compromise food safety standards. When employees don’t wash their hands as required, the germs on their hands can be transferred to food. When someone finds a hair in their food, it’s usually because the hair of the employee wasn’t restrained as it should have been. And when an employee comes to work when they are sick, those germs can also get into food. It’s easy to see why personal hygiene is a big concern when it comes to food safety standards.

Cleanliness is another matter of utmost importance when it comes to Food safety standards. Everything that is going to touch the food or come into contact with it has to be cleaned thoroughly. Total cleaning is very important for the tools and items that will be used in preparing and cooking food. There are at least three instances when a tool should be cleaned - beginning of day, using it for another type of food, and end of day. One of the main concerns is cross contamination.

The third matter in food safety standards is cooking. Cooking temperatures need to be monitored constantly. Temperatures need to be high enough on meat to kill off germs. So cooking temperatures have to be watched closely in order to ensure that the meat is going to be safe to consume.

Food safety standards are also affected by the pest control. Most people think of pests as rats and mice, but that is only one form of pest. There’s more than just rats and mice to worry about, even though they are at the top of the list. Springing to mind at the top of the list is the cockroach. Most people are disgusted when they see these little disease carriers. Pest problems include rodents, flies, ants and the cockroach.

The final point of concern for food safety standards is refrigeration. Good refrigeration is necessary for fresh and safe ingredients. Proper temperature and storage are important to keep the food consumable. It’s important to maintain the freezer and refrigerator minimum low temperatures.

The most pressing concerns about Food safety standards have to do with the items which are listed above. When you’re paying special attention to those items above, you’re going to find that your food is healthy and that your customers are coming back again and again. The last thing that you want to do is to have someone get sick at your restaurant because you didn’t pay attention to detail.-

That’s a price that no one should pay.
